In September 1999, after a summer in the South of France I returned feeling inspired by the plentiful offerings of jewellery there was compared to Oslo where I lived then. There was no business plan or vision, it was born purely out of creativity and the desire to make pretty things. It started with a trip to the local bead shop, and for years I beaded and sold to friends and shops locally.
When I moved to London in 2003 I needed to support myself through college and found that continuing with my jewellery was a great way and could fit around my BA Interior Design and Architecture studies.
London received me with open arms, and soon I had stockists all over the UK. Amazing press features followed, and at the time that was an important way to build your brand - remember this was before digital platforms, social media and influencers. Below is my first UK press cutting from Harpers & Queen in 2004, when my now amazing friend Deborah Brett was the Fashion Editor. When she called in the pieces, I dropped them off at their offices and it was the first time we met. Lots of great press continued worldwide, in Vogue, Marie Claire, Elle and Financial Times to name a few.
After I finished my BA I felt I needed to give the jewellery a chance to see where it took me, and the Interior Design was put on hold. Since then I moved the production the the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham where we work with small companies and craftsmen. I have since trained as a jeweller, silversmith, stone setter and later became a GEM-A Gemmologist.
Having been stocked in 35 countries around the world and in the amazing Matches Fashion, Harrods, Le Bon Marche and Anthropologie, we decided a few years back to concentrate on our own e-commerce.
I am so grateful to all customers and supporters of the brand, old and new, for allowing me to do what I love and following me on this journey. I will do my best to keep making special things that you treasure and love wearing.
